Zerban raises $100K, well behind Rep. Paul Ryan
Rob Zerban

Democratic challenger Rob Zerban raised just over $100,000 last quarter as he tries to defeat Rep. Paul Ryan for the seat representing southeastern Wisconsin.

Zerban ran against Ryan in 2012 and lost, 55 percent to 43 percent. The 12-point margin of victory was the narrowest of Ryan’s eight election wins.

But Ryan, coming off a high-profile run as vice president, has an especially huge cash advantage this year.

Zerban raised about $104,000 last quarter, and has $102,000 cash on hand. In that same period, Ryan raised $1.6 million and has $3.8 million on hand.
Zerban will face Democrat Amar Kaleka in a primary next month. The winner will take on Ryan in November.

Kaleka’s fundraising report had not been posted to the Federal Election Commission’s website as of Tuesday morning.
