World Dairy Expo names UW-Madison alumnus ‘Dairyman of the Year’
MADISON, Wis. — The World Dairy Expo named University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus Pete Kappelman the Dairyman of the Year and will be honored at the 2018 World Dairy Expo.
The World Dairy Expo announced its 2018 recognition awards Monday, according to a statement from the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Kappelman will receive the honor at a banquet during this fall’s dairy expo, after being nominated and chosen by his peers.
Kappelman, from Two Rivers, is a fourth-generation farmer, according to the release. After earning a degree from UW-Madison in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in 1985, Kappelman became an owner of Meadow Brook Dairy Farms. He is currently a member of several professional dairy organizations, including the nonprofit Heifer International, and has received several awards in the field.
