Woodson not worried about Packers’ defense

Woodson not worried about Packers’ defense

Charles Woodson said he isn’t worried, even if the Green Bay Packers’ defense didn’t look much better Sunday than it did last season.

Woodson said it will take some time for the Packers’ new players to make an impact. And the veteran defensive back insists he saw signs of progress in the season-opening 30-22 loss to San Francisco.

The revamped defense gave up 377 net yards of offense to the 49ers, who looked more explosive than they did during last season’s run to the NFC championship game. Alex Smith was 20 of 26 for 211 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and Frank Gore ran for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Woodson said, “We’re going to get where we need to be. I promise you that.”
