Women charged in Trempealeau man’s heroin overdose death

TREMPEALEAU CO, Wis.– A mother and daughter face homicide charges for giving heroin to a Trempealeau man who later overdosed and died.

A criminal complaint says 44-year-old Michelle Johnson, of Lake Mills, and 26-year-old Tasha Kempfer, of Tomah, drove to Madison in July of last year to buy heroin.

The complaint says Jeremiah Harris was given some heroin on the way back and later died of an overdose.

Harris was found dead in Treampealeau and an autopsy determined the cause of death to be a heroin overdose.

Both women face charges of First Degree Reckless Homicide.
