A Janesville woman faces a drunken driving charge after she was reportedly running along the interstate with a baby carrier Wednesday afternoon, according to a release.

A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper responded to reports of a woman running along Interstate 94 eastbound near DeForest around 4:35 p.m., officials said.

The trooper found Kimberly A. Schumacher, 27, of Janesville, near her vehicle and could smell a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, according to the release.

The 9-month-old baby was inside an ambulance that had stopped to check on their welfare, and the trooper had Schumacher perform field sobriety tests, authorities said.

She was subsequently arrested on a tentative charge of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated with a child under 16 years old. The child was released to the father.
