Woman struck, killed by train in Alma

An 18-year-old woman was struck and killed by a train in the City of Alma Tuesday night.

Alma Police Chief Todd Ritscher said the woman went fishing with a group of friends and was crossing the railroad tracks when she was struck by a westbound train near downtown Alma at about 9:10 p.m.

The woman’s name has not been released yet. Foul play is not suspected.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department, Alma Ambulance, Alma Fire Department, Mayo One Helicopter and BNSF Railroad personnel assisted Alma police with this incident.
