MADISON, Wis. — Police are investigating a robbery that happened Tuesday night in the 600 block of West Washington Avenue.

According to an incident report, a woman claimed she had an accomplice outside Kelley’s Market “with a gun.”

Police said she began grabbing several cartons of cigarettes and hit the clerk with the tobacco products when they tried to stop her.

The report said witnesses heard her yelling, “He’s got a gun!” as she ran off.

Officials said it appears it was a ruse because no one saw anyone with a weapon.
