Woman seriously injured, charged with OWI after crash
TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. — A Sun Prairie woman and Brooklyn man are recovering at UW Hospital following a serious crash Friday night, according to Dane County deputies.
Authorities said that the incident happened around 11 p.m. on Happy Valley Road near Briar Lake in the town of Bristol.
According to deputies, the woman was driving a Ford Crown Victoria when she allegedly lost control and hit a utility pole and a tree. The 48-year-old woman was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was taken to UW Hospital by Med Flight. She faces an OWI charge, as well as charges for passing in a no-passing zone and not wearing a seat belt.
A 24-year-old man was also in the car, deputies said. He suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital by emergency medical services.
Alliant Energy responded to the scene to repair the damaged pole and power lines, deputies said.
The crash is still under investigation, deputies said.
