Woman rescued from car stalled in downtown floodwaters
MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Fire Department first responders plucked a woman from her car stalled in floodwaters Tuesday night at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Livingston Street.
According to a release, there were several service calls during flooding, but this incident was the most dramatic. When Engine 3 arrived, they found the Mini Cooper in the water with the woman kneeling on the hood of the car.
Firefighters helped her off the car and walked her over to the sidewalk. The release said they attempted to preserve the vehicle from more damage, but they weren’t able to.
The MFD reminds drivers to not drive into standing or moving water, since it can be dangerous.
