Police: 20-year-old suffers face injury during downtown attack
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison woman was attacked during an attempted robbery late Saturday night, according to a release from Madison police.
The 20-year-old woman was walking home in the 200 block of North Pinckney Street around 11:25 p.m. when she was approached by a man, police said.
The man pushed her, causing her to stumble, according to the release. The man then punched the woman in the face, which knocked her to the ground.
The man grabbed the woman’s shoulder bag, emptied the contents, and when he didn’t find anything to steal he kicked the woman and fled, police said.
The woman suffered an injury to her face, but did not seek medical attention at the scene.
The attacker is described as black and 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing white tennis shoes, black clothing and a do rag on his head.
