Woman may require treatment if mixed-breed dog not located
Local health officials are asking for the public’s help finding a dog that bit a woman on Madison’s near west side Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release.
Public Health Madison and Dane County officials said a woman was on the 300 block of North Hillside Terrace at 3 p.m. and was trying to keep a medium-sized dog, with which she wasn’t familiar, away from her own dogs.
The dog that bit her was described as a mixed-breed dog with medium-length hair. Its fur is mottled brown, black and white, and it was wearing a collar with tags, according to the release.
Anyone with information on the dog is asked to call 608-255-2345 and ask for the animal services officer.
Health officials said if the dog is not located, the woman might have to complete a series of painful, costly injections to prevent rabies.
