Woman killed, man hurt after motorcycle collided with deer
Crash happened in Sauk County
TOWN OF WESTFIELD, Wis. — A 31-year-old woman was killed and 47-year-old was injured after the motorcycle they were riding struck a deer in Sauk County on Friday night.
Authorities were notified of the crash on State Highway 23, north of Narrows Creek Road, in the Town of Westfield at about 7:24 p.m. The motorcycle, which was being driven by Ronald R. Nevins, of Reedsburg, and his passenger Malissa G. Meinen, also of Reedsburg, was traveling south on the highway when it struck the deer.
Meinen was taken by MedFlight helicopter to University of Wisconsin Hospital with severe head injuries. She was later pronounced dead, authorities said. Nevins suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Reedsburg Area Medical Center and then transferred to UW Hospital.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said that neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and speed and alcohol aren’t believe to be factors in the crash.
