Woman finds bullet hole in bathroom ceiling, floor, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating after a north side resident found a bullet hole in her bathroom ceiling and floor Monday morning, according to a release.
The 58-year-old Monterey Drive resident called police around 7:35 a.m. after finding a bullet hole in her bathroom ceiling, according to the release. The round, which came from the apartment above hers, also hit the floor.
The 58-year-old woman said her son heard what he thought was a gunshot between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., but he thought it came from somewhere outside and did not report it at the time, officials said.
Officers contacted the woman who lives in the apartment above the damaged residence, who said she was entertaining guests in the early morning hours. The woman told police there were no disputes, but one of the men in her home had a gun that discharged into the floor.
The woman told police the guests left after the gun went off, and she did not call police.
Detectives are trying to identify the man who fired the gun. No injuries have been reported.
