Woman dragged behind car of gas station wallet thief, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A woman was dragged alongside the car of a man who took her wallet Tuesday morning while getting coffee at a gas station, police said.
The 35-year-old Cottage Grove woman set her wallet down around 6:20 a.m. at the Kwik Trip at 1625 North Stoughton Road to get coffee, according to a release.
When she went to mix creamer into her coffee, a man grabbed her wallet and walked out of the gas station, police said.
The woman followed the man outside, opened the driver’s door and put the car back into park, according to the release. The man was able to get the car back into reverse and drive away, dragging the woman for a short distance.
The woman fell to the ground, but was not seriously injured, police said.
The robber is described as white, 34-38 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a black skullcap, gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The car is described as a dirty white four-door compact car.
