Witnesses who follow bank robber help lead to quick arrest, police say
43-year-old a suspect in Old National Bank robbery
MADISON, Wis. — A suspected bank robber is in custody Monday, police said.
Madison police said a man robbed the Old National Bank on Raymond Road at 2:29 p.m.
According to the report, the robber indicated he had a weapon but it wasn’t observed. After getting cash, he fled.
According to the report, witnesses followed the robber when he left.
Police said officers were able to respond quickly because the bank is a mile from the department’s west district station on McKenna Boulevard.
The quick response from police coupled with witnesses who were able to point to the area where the suspect had run, led to the immediate apprehension in the lot across from the bank, according to the report.
Police said Tuesday that 43-year-old Jeremy M. Baumgartner is a suspect in the robbery. Baumgartner is being held at the Dane County Jail on a probation hold, police said.
Police said no one was injured in the incident Monday.
