Survey data reveals top sweet treats
According to survey data, Wisconsinites love to give their sweeties Hershey’s Kisses, conversation hearts and Ghiradelli gift boxes on Valentine’s Day.
Candystore.com, an online bulk candy store in the United States and Canada, compiled more than 10 years of sales data to figure out the top three Valentine’s Day candies for each state.
Wisconsinites bought more than 39,000 pounds of Hershey’s Kisses, making it the most popular Valentine’s Day candy in Wisconsin. Conversation hearts and Ghiradelli gift boxes are the second- and third-most popular, respectively.
According to candystore.com, it’s expected that people spend $1.7 billion on candy for Valentine’s Day.
Using the data, they created an interactive map that shows all of the 50 states colored-coated with its top candies.
Some other state’s favorites include heart-shaped chocolate boxes, chocolate roses, M&Ms, candy necklaces and chocolate hearts.
Candystore.com also found that conversation hearts are now the most popular Valentine’s Day candies overall, overtaking heart-shaped boxes of chocolate in 2017.
