Wisconsin women win Big Ten Tournament
Beat Iowa 1-0 in double-overtime
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Wisconsin women’s soccer won the Big Ten Tournament Championship Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind. They beat Iowa 1-0 in double-overtime.
Both teams failed to score in regulation, and the first overtime. After more than 100 minutes of play, Kinley McNicol bent in a corner kick that gave UW their first Big Ten Tournament Championship since 2005.
McNicol was awarded Big Ten Tournament Offensive MVP honors, while UW keeper Genevieve Richard was named defensive MVP.
With the win, the Badgers clinches a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Tournament selection is Monday at 3:30 p.m.
