Wisconsin volleyball falls to Penn State 3-1
Badgers take first set, drop next three
LOUISVILLE — Wisconsin volleyball saw their season come to an end Saturday in Louisville, falling to defending national champion Penn State 3-1 in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Wisconsin lost Lauren Carlini in the first set with an ankle injury. She returned later in the set and Wisconsin took the first set 25-22.
Penn State took the second set 25-16 and the third 25-22.
With the fourth set knotted at 18-18, Wisconsin’s Ellen Chapman’s serve went long, giving Penn State a 19-18 lead. From there, the Lions took control, scoring match point with a block and winning the fourth and final set 25-19.
Wisconsin ends their season 31-3. Their 31 wins are the second-most in program history.
