Wisconsin tight end Jake Ferguson drafted by the Dallas Cowboys

Jake Ferguson Wisconsin Badgers Tight End Nebraska

MADISON, Wis. — After a record-setting career in his hometown of Madison, Wisconsin Badgers tight end Jake Ferguson will get a chance to begin his NFL career after being drafted by the Cowboys in the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Ferguson, the grandson of former Wisconsin head coach and athletic director Barry Alvarez, became one of Wisconsin’s most reliable offensive players during his college career.

He set a school record for most consecutive games with at least one catch (47), collecting a total of 145 receptions for 1618 yards and 13 touchdowns in Wisconsin’s run-first offense. He was also a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2021, leading the Badgers with 46 catches for 450 yards.

While he was reliable with Wisconsin and earned high marks for his ability to catch in traffic, some pro scouts have worried about his ability to block NFL defenders in the run game.

He was projected as a 6th or 7th round pick by experts ahead of the draft.
