Wisconsin River flooding causes road closure
PORTAGE, Wis. — Officials in Sauk and Columbia counties are warning people to be aware of flooding along the Wisconsin River near Portage.
Sauk County officials closed Levee Road from Highway T to Highway 33 due to water over the road. Local traffic can continue to use the road but should be careful if water levels rise.
Columbia County officials said they expect flooding in low-lying areas near the river, including in the Blackhawk Park area, and Highway V and Oak Knoll Road in the town of Dekorra.
The area is under a flood warning, according to the National Weather Service. NWS officials said Sunday morning the river was at a depth of 18.4 feet, more than a foot above flood stage.
