Wisconsin judge accused of sharing child pornography on messaging app indicted in federal court
MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin judge charged with sharing child pornography via an online messaging app is now facing charges in federal court.
Brett Blomme was charged Wednesday in federal court with two counts of distributing child pornography in the fall of 2020. The indictment against Blomme alleges he sent sexually explicit images of minors to another user via Kik Messenger on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 2020.
Blomme was a judge with the Milwaukee County Children’s Court at the time of the alleged offense. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has since suspended Blomme’s judicial powers citing charges in Dane County court.
If convicted in federal court, Blomme faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison on each count.
The new charges against Blomme came as the result of an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
