Wisconsin, Dane County hit record high gas price Monday

MADISON, Wis. — The state average for a gallon of regular gas came in at $4.80 Monday, according to AAA’s forecast. Diesel was more than a dollar more, at $5.25. The price is still below the national average at $4.87, diesel at $5.65.

Dane County’s average cost is at $4.70, also a record, according to AAA. That’s up 70 cents from a month ago and almost two dollars from last year.

The priciest pump to stop at in Wisconsin is currently Kenosha County at $5.13.

Last week, AAA reported the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline had increased by nine cents in the span of three days. The organization blamed supply and demand dynamics, coupled with volatile crude oil prices, and predicted prices will likely remain elevated for the near future.
