Wilmer ‘Willy’ F. Hooker

Wilmer F. ‘Willy’ Hooker, age 80, of Soldiers Grove and formerly of rural Richland Center, died on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Sannes Skogdalen.

He was born September 19, 1934 the son of August Sr. and Chistina (Snorek) Hooker. Willy was a farmer at heart. In addition to working on the family farm, he had worked out for hire as well. He loved being outside, working the land, and taking road trips throughout the area. He also worked for a time with Pratt Freight Service, for Toby Anderson’s feed mill, and moved furniture for the Gambles Store. Whenever possible, he would talk his siblings in to visiting and going out to eat. Even a drive around the countryside was important to him. He enjoyed family reunions and gatherings, watching his favorite television shows, and teaching the youngsters to play euchre.

Survivors include :Two sisters: Helen Jacobson of Soldiers Grove, Mary Lou (Carlyle) Brewer of Richland CenteR, many nieces and nephews.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Harley and August, Jr., his sister in law Mary Hooker, and his niece Jane Hooker.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Pastor Craig Peach will officiate and burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.
