William Barton Brewer
William (Bill) B. Brewer, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2012. Bill was born in Sauk City on November 8, 1926 to Ervin and Margaret (Barton) Brewer. He attended school in Sauk City and Prairie du Sac. Bill was a World War II veteran, serving at sea and overseas from 1944 – 1947 in the US Army and Merchant Marines. Bill married Marian Repka in April 1950 and they spent 62 happy years together. He retired as a civil servant from Forest Products Laboratory in Madison in February 1984. Bill was a Mason and member of the VFW. He was a longtime volunteer at Jefferson Meadows in Baraboo and Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Brewer. Bill is survived by his wife Marian, brother John (Donna) Fox of Baraboo, sister-in-law Yvonne Brewer of Sauk City, daughter Vicky (Neal) Hasheider of Santa Clara CA, son William E. (Jane Esser) Brewer of Bangor WI, daughter Kris Brewer of Rochester MN, granddaughter Rachael (Marty) Walasek of San Carlos CA, grandsons Matthew Rein of Minneapolis MN and Andrew Rein of Rochester MN.
Bill specifically requested that there be no funeral service. He would like to be remembered as he lived. All memorials are to be made to the Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society, 565 Water Street, Prairie du Sac WI 53578. A memorial will be held at a later date.
