Willa Mae Monroe
Willa Mae Monroe, 85, of Blue River died Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Richland Hospital.
She was born December 25, 1928 in Excelsior the daughter of William and Ethel (Copus) Dilley. Growing up Willa played guitar with her sisters. Willa moved to Beloit working in childcare. On January 16, 1945 Willa married Raymond Monroe in Prairie du Chien. The couple farmed together for 50 years and also owned and operated the Blue River Stockyards. Willa enjoyed going to garage sales, square dancing, sewing, and working in her garden. She loved all of the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Willa is survived by three children: Samuel Monroe and friend Judy Proett of Oregon, Linda (Neil) Roen of Blue River, Sally (Eric) Larson of Richland Center; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; Brothers and sisters: Miona Young of Boscobel, George Dilley of Boscobel, Frank (Pat) Dilley Janesville, John (Leila) Dilley of Pardeeville, Ben Dilley of Reedsburg, Stan (Rita) Dilley of Blue River; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Verna Puckett of Muscoda, Ronnie (Lillian) Monroe of Loves Park, IL, Delbert (Charlene) Monroe of Loves Park, IL, Jean (Gordon) Faust of Seneca, MO, Jerry (Sue) Monroe of Boscobel, Jim Ostrander of Blue River; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, sister Meredith Hembree and brother Clarence Dilley
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Blue River United Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Barlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Haney Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Blue River United Methodist Church on Monday, February 10 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Blue River Rescue Squad.
The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
