‘We’ve been really pleased with the city’: CrossFit Games to return to Madison in 2023

MADISON, Wis. — Since 2017, hundreds of athletes from around the globe have flocked to Madison to compete for the title of “Fittest on Earth” at the CrossFit Games, and they’ll be back again next year.

During a Thursday morning press call, CrossFit’s General Manager of Sport Justin Bergh confirmed the annual CrossFit Games will return to Madison in 2023.

“We’ve been really pleased with the city; it’s a terrific fan experience,” Bergh said. “It gives us a great canvas to program over with the amount of different features that are within either a short walk or a close drive in Madison.”

Bergh said CrossFit’s current priorities are to wrap up the 2022 season as planned so they can make needed adjustments for the 2023 Games, allowing athletes and trainers can plan ahead for next year’s season. After that, CrossFit plans to “thoughtfully consider” various locations for the Games’ finals in 2024 and beyond.

Last year, the Games made their return to Wisconsin’s capital city after the coronavirus pandemic put the competition on hold in 2020. This year’s competition is scheduled for Aug. 3-7 at the Alliant Energy Center.
