We’re melting for local Madison chocolates
These three chocolatiers are the cream of the crop
We’re melting … for this chocolate, that is. This year’s best chocolate winners are Gail Ambrosius Chocolatier, Chocolaterian Cafe and Candinas Chocolatier. This seems like a good reason to hit up all three on a chocolate crawl.
Don’t leave Gail Ambrosius on Atwood Avenue without sampling one of an assortment of truffles. Choose from flavors such as blueberry, espresso or lemongrass with ginger.
Then hit Chocolaterian Cafe (either on Atwood Avenue* or in Middleton) for a selection of cookies, cakes and tarts. Try the caramel cashew tart made of shortbread crust, coffee buttercream, caramel, chocolate ganache, cashews and toffee.
Next, stop at Candinas Chocolatier on the Square (there’s also a factory and retail store in Verona) to enjoy the chocolate of Swiss-trained confectioner Markus Candinas. Candinas says his chocolates are made with equal parts artistry, science and love to ensure rich flavor and a smooth texture.
*Editor’s note: the Chocolaterian on Atwood Avenue is currently closed due to a large fire.
