Wayne Dieter Obituary

Wayne A. Dieter age 90, of Muscoda died at Pine Valley Community Village in Richland Center on Wednesday May 11, 2022.

He was born in a farmhouse in Orion township on September 15, 1931 to Marguerite and Lloyd Dieter. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Orion as a child and High School in Muscoda as a teenager. He was married to his high school sweetheart (Betty R Arneson) for 66 years. Early in their marriage they moved to San Diego California where Wayne was stationed at North Island for his 4 years of service with the U.S. Navy. After, he received vocational training in Ohio for meat processing and moved to Madison, Wisconsin to work as a butcher. Later, he and Betty returned home to Muscoda and opened a grocery store which served as the popular lunch location for the high school students for many years. Finally, Wayne pursued insurance sales and opened his own independent agency. Insurance sales suited Wayne’s strengths because of his passion for meeting new people and engaging in a lively conversation.

Outside of work, he served the community well by volunteering many hours at Muscoda Fire Department, the local Emergency Medical Services, the American Legion, and St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Betty. He enjoyed spending time with his 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
