Waunakee man seen driving erratically, running stop signs faces 5th OWI, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A Waunakee man faces his fifth drunken driving charge after being stopped for reportedly driving erratically and running stop signs, police said.
Robert K. Ripp, 34, was pulled over around 7:15 p.m. on North Stoughton Road near Highway 30 after witnesses reported seeing his pickup truck all over the roadway and running stop signs, according to a release.
A large piece of plywood also flew out of the bed of his pickup truck, nearly causing a crash on Highway 30 as other drivers had to brake to avoid hitting it, officials said.
Ripp left Highway 30 and was stopped just as he was heading south on Stoughton Road, according to the release.
Ripp was arrested on tentative charges of fifth-offense operating while intoxicated and operating a vehicle on a highway with load dropping off the vehicle.
