Watertown man dies in crash caused by icy roads, officials say
TOWN OF IXONIA, Wis. — A 29-year-old Watertown man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning after his vehicle slid on icy roads, officials said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 6:40 a.m. of a two-vehicle crash on County Road CW east of North Street in the township of Ixonia, according to a release.
Juan Luis Cruz Reyes, 29, of Watertown, was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring east on County Road CW when the vehicle started to slide on the icy road and crossed the center line, officials said. The Chrysler hit a 2008 Jeep Cherokee that was going west.
The driver of the Jeep, 52-year-old Bruce Pine, of Watertown, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Cruz Reyes died in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
