WATCH: Barry Alvarez announces his retirement from UW
MADISON, Wis. — After more than 30 years in Madison, Barry Alvarez is saying goodbye.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison athletic director is officially announcing his retirement this afternoon. News of his retirement first broke Monday night, before the athletic department confirmed the news Tuesday morning.
Alvarez has spent more than three decades in Madison as the university’s football coach and athletic director.
