Warren M. Knudson
OREGON-Warren M. Knudson, age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Meriter Hospital, surrounded by his family. He had been battling congestive heart failure. Warren was born on May 12, 1941, to Wallace and Mabel (Rue) Knudson of Blue Mounds. He grew up on the family farm and attended the Erbe rural school and was a graduate of Mount Horeb High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army, 1963-1965, and the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Warren was married to Susan Schoebel on May 27, 1967. They have resided in Oregon since. Warren started out working for Carnes Corp. in Verona and Gerber Farm Service in Mt. Horeb. He was a long-time employee of the Dane County Highway Dept. when he retired at age 62. Warren loved hunting, especially coon hunting with his dad and friends. He also loved fishing with his son, Jeff. Warren also loved old military warbirds and WWII history. He was a past member of the Oregon Volunteer Fire Dept. and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Warren is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Jeff; brother, Wayne (Mary) Knudson of Blue Mounds; brother-in-law, Dick (Helen) Schoebel of Hazelhurst; three nephews, Andrew Knudson and his fiancé, Melissa Skogen of Monticello, Adam Knudson of Blue Mounds and Doug Schoebel of Madison; his dog, Bailey; and his cat, Goldie. He is also survived by six aunts and uncles; many cousins; and a special cousin, Cindy (Knudson) Dollak, who was like a sister to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, with the Rev. Paul E. Markquart presiding.
Burial with military rites will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
Visitation will be at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
The family would like to thank the staff of Meriter Hospital’s eleventh floor for their great care and kindness to Warren.
