Warhawks head to Stagg Bowl XLI

Whitewater Football is headed back to the Division Three National Championship for the eighth time in nine years. They’ll play Mount Union, the same team they’ve played their last seven trips to Salem, Va.

The Warhawks have gotten the best of the Purple Raiders in those meetings, winning four out of seven. This year’s match-up comes a year after Whitewater missed the playoffs entirely. Junior quarterback Matt Behrendt is glad to be back.

“You know when you’re practicing in the snow, you’re doing something right.”

New Warhawks not accustomed to playing in Salem, like running back Jordan Ratliffe, are excited for the opportunity.

“This is why you come here, to play in games like this. Everyone wants to play in games like this. We’re blessed to be here.”

Kickoff at Salem Football Stadium is Friday at 6:05 p.m. The game can be scene on ESPNU.
