Wanted fugitive arrested in Beloit home
Police: 22-year-old may be connected to recent shootings in Beloit
BELOIT, Wis. — A wanted fugitive who may be connected to recent shootings in Beloit was arrested Thursday night at a residence in Beloit, according to a release.
Just before 8 p.m.. officers from the Beloit Police Department’s tactical unit assisted the U.S. Marshals Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in arresting a wanted fugitive out of Illinois.
The agencies had information that Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza, 22, was at a residence in Beloit, according to the release. Ortiz-Raygoza was found at a residence in the 600 block of Hackett Street.
He was taken into custody without incident, officials said. Others at the home were briefly detained, but no other arrests were made.
Ortiz-Raygoza was wanted in connection with a recent shooting in South Beloit, Illinois, as well as on outstanding warrants in Rock County, according to the release.
There have been several shootings in the past two months at residences that were known to be frequented by Ortiz-Raygoza and his family members, officials said. Police believe those shootings were related to the South Beloit shooting.
