Walker’s deputy communications director rebuts WISC editorial on job creation

Guardian report details secret donations to Walker, GOP supporters from lead paint industry

Gov. Scott Walker’s Deputy Communications Director Tom Evenson sent us a note saying our “Where Are The Jobs” editorial last week “did not fairly portray the issue to WISC’s viewers.”

He cited the following:

More people have been employed in Wisconsin this year than at any point in Wisconsin’s history.
Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is 4.2 percent, the lowest in 15 years and lower than the national rate.
Wisconsin has added more than 45,000 private sector jobs over the year ending July 2016.
Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate ranked seventh among states, according to the monthly data.
Wisconsin was one of only 10 states with an annual average unemployment rate in 2015 lower than 2007, the year that the Great Recession began.

Evenson concludes: “There are many other examples I could provide you to show Governor Walker’s active promotion of our great state, improved business climate and outstanding workforce. There will be many more examples in the future.”
