Rebecca Rapp St. John appointed to position
MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker announced in Madison the appointment of attorney Rebecca Rapp St. John to the position of Dane County Circuit Court Judge Branch 16.
“I am impressed with Ms. St. Johns extensive credentials and extraordinary recommendations. Ms. St. John will serve the residents of Dane County honorably,” said Governor Scott Walker.
Her legal experience includes a degree from the Chicago Law School and work as an assistant attorney general for the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she represented the state in criminal appeals and federal habeas actions.
She represented children in the abuse and neglect system while working for the Children’s Law Center.
While there, she also represented guardians in special education, benefits and custody matters.
Currently, she serves as the Wisconsin Judicial Council criminal procedure Committee Chairman and as an Appellate Procedure Committee member.
St. John was recommended by Deputy Chief Judge of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Maxine Aldridge White, who said, “As a member of the Wisconsin Judicial Council, I have marveled at her wit and wisdom as I watched her take on tough issues and bring consensus where wide differences existed between councilmembers. What is most striking is her great sensitivity and attention to detail, her approach to problem solving, her temperament, and the ease with which she tackles difficult workloads.”
