Vice President Mike Pence talked Friday about jobs and health care during a visit to Blain Supply in Janesville.

Pence was joined by Janesville native House Speaker Paul Ryan, Sen. Ron Johnson and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

Pence talked to an invite-only audience and got a tour of an agricultural supply store’s headquarters and distribution center. He also held a listening session with farmers and local business owners.

During his remarks, Pence talked about a Republican goal to pass health care reform.

“The Obamacare nightmare is about to end–despite the best efforts at town halls around the country, the American people know,” he said. “We’re going to replace it with something that actually works and lowers the cost of insurance for every American.”

Ryan is working with House Republicans and the Trump administration on a repeal and replacement plan for the health care law. Pence said Trump and Ryan have a close partnership that will benefit Americans “for generations to come.”

Pence said they have a team working “around the clock” on the measure. No details have been announced.

Pence also said the Republicans will pass tax reform and cut regulations.

“President Trump is the best friend Wisconsin businesses will ever have,” he said.

Dozens of protesters greeted Pence and Ryan outside the distribution center as the motorcade drove by. The Associated Press estimated about 50 protestors and Janesville police said about 85.

The event was not open to the public.

The distribution center supplies Blain’s Farm and Fleet stores. The company is based in Janesville and operates stores in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.

The Janesville Police Department said that more than 160 law enforcement and fire personnel from Janesville, Rock County, Dane County, Madison PD, Milton PD, Beloit PD, Evansville PD, Clinton PD, UW-Madison PD, and the Wisconsin Capitol Police provided assistance to the US Secret Service during the Pence visit.
