Voting hours extended due to school lockdown
Polls for two Madison wards were extended until 9 p.m. because the school those residents vote at was put on lockdown Tuesday, officials said.
Voters in wards 74 and 75 had until 9 p.m. Tuesday to vote at Aldo Leopold Elementary School because the school was temporarily put on lockdown earlier in the day.
Officials said the school was put on lockdown for about 15 minutes for a police report of a person in the area who may have been armed. During that time, voters may have been turned away.
The City Attorney’s Office petitioned the court to extend the polling hours for the location.
