Vos not worried about Assembly GOP budget support
Assembly will take up budget in about 2 weeks
MADISON, Wis. — Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says he’s not worried about support for the state budget among Republicans in the Assembly.
Vos says he is “very confident” the plan nearing completion in the Joint Finance Committee will have support from at least 50 of the 60 Republicans, and maybe all of them.
Last week 11 Assembly Republicans sent Vos a letter expressing concerns they had with the budget and calling for changes, including removing the proposed requirement that DNA be collected from anyone arrested for a felony or convicted of any crime.
But Vos said Tuesday he thinks the vast majority of those who sent the letter will ultimately vote for the budget.
Vos says the Assembly will take up the budget in about two weeks.
