Volunteers bring air conditioners to seniors in Rock County
Voluntary Action Center seeks donations
BELOIT, Wis. — Volunteers in Rock County are working overtime to get air conditioners to area seniors.
The Voluntary Action Center has been providing air conditioners to seniors for 10 years.
To be eligible for the program, seniors need to be more than 60 years old and demonstrate a medical and financial need for an air conditioner.
The Voluntary Action Center has delivered about 380 air conditioners so far, but Executive Director David Zimdars said the waiting list keeps growing.
“We’re up to, I believe, in the 80s for requests. Obviously the demands come in faster than the supply,” Zimdars said.
He said the center is always looking for donations. People can drop off their old air conditioners at the Voluntary Action Center’s office at 611 East Grand Ave. in Beloit.15341916
