Voces de la Frontera hosts immigration forum

MADISON, Wis. — A local group is working to make sure communities around Wisconsin understand what’s happening at the federal level to reform immigration policies.

Voces de la Frontera held immigration reform forums around the state this week, including one in Madison on Sunday. Organizers said their goal was to address concerns about the recent federal court ruling ending the DACA program.

Members of the Latino community were also updated on the status of the comprehensive immigration reform bill.

“I think it’s vital for the Latino community of the area to know the ways they can get involved in making sure we have an immigration bill that can pass promptly,” Voces de la Frontera member Mario Garcia Sierra said. “We’re hoping and working toward ensuring that the current reconciliation budget that is being discussed in the Senate has a piece that deals with immigration reform.”

Forums were also held in Milwaukee and Green Bay this weekend.
