Virginia “Ginny” (Barsness) Roberts
MADISON – Virginia “Ginny” (Barsness) Roberts, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Black Earth, the daughter of Orval and Dolores (Hefty) Barsness. Ginny attended Old Halfway Prairie School, Mazomanie, for all eight years of her elementary education. She was a graduate of Mazomanie High School and also attended Platteville University.
Ginny married Daniel Roberts in June 1963 and was the mother of Jennifer Ann (Roberts) Engbrecht and grandmother to Payton Louise and Avery Bryn Engbrecht. She was employed at USAFI (United States Armed Forces Institute) in Madison for 15 years, until 1974 when it closed. Later, while living in Illinois, she was employed at Packaging Corporation of America, Lake Forest, for 14 years. Ginny relocated back to Madison from Illinois in April 2001. She was a member of High Point Church where she volunteered for many years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Richard; granddaughters, Payton and Avery; brother, Dale (Katie) Barsness; and sister-in-law Gloria Barsness. Also surviving are nephews, Tim (Diane), Todd (Becki) and Trent (Kathy) Barsness; niece, Brenda (Matt) Gobel; and many other relatives
and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved pug, Quincy; her parents; brother, Alan Barsness; grandparents, Herman and Otelia Barsness and Adam and Ruth Hefty.

Per Ginny’s wishes, there will be no service. A private burial will take place at Vermont Lutheran Church Cemetery, Black Earth.
