Virginia C. Brockhaus
Virginia C. Brockhaus, age 89, of Janesville, died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care.
She was born in Lawler, IA on May 11, 1927, the daughter of Harold and Edith (Mathis) Dunn. She attended Clark College in Iowa, and married Dr. Bill C. Brockhaus on Oct. 8, 1955, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville, Virginia had been employed by Parker Pen. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Catholic Women’s Association, Elk’s Club, and the Lake Ripley Country Club where Virginia and Bill spent many mornings on the golf course. She was a terrific card player, Bridge and Euchre; was known for giving goofy gifts, and for her “Dan and Wanda” Classic Christmas Cards. Virginia also enjoyed Wintering in Naples Florida.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill Brockhaus; son, John (Patricia) Brockhaus; 2 grandchildren, Ian and Lola Brockhaus; sister, Dorin McCarthy; nieces and nephews: Cathy (Steve) Fernan, Judy (Steve) Sell, Patrick (Rhonda) McCarthy and Sue (Bob) Pease; many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jane Brockhaus; and sister, Sr. Edith Dunn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Very Rev. Paul Arinze officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
