Virginia A. “Ginny” Nickerson
SPANISH FORT ALAMBAMA—Virginia A. “Ginny” Nickerson age 87, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, AL.
She was born on January 23, 1925 in West Allis to William and Juretta (Cullen) Haase. She graduated from West Allis Central High in 1943. Virginia met Dwayne Nickerson in Columbus and on January 11, 1947 they were married in West Allis. The couple lived for a short time in Watertown, then lived in several states before retiring from Grand Rapids, MI to Spanish Fort, AL in 1986. She so enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Virginia will be remembered for her love of flowers and birds. We will miss her and her laugh.
Survivors include her husband, Dwayne of Spanish Fort, AL; two daughters, Connie (Dale) Dykhouse of Jennison, MI and Pam (Bill) Czyzyk of Traverse City, MI; tow sons, Alan of Orcas Island, WA and Tim (Kathleen) of Grand Rapids, MI; ten grandchildren, Tony (Jen) Dykhouse, Anne (Mike) Bartsch, Dan (Kate) Dykhouse, Cory Nickerson, Amy (Paul) Johnson, Megan Ross, Daniel (Heather) Ober, Stefanie, Brian and Kieran Czyzyk; twelve great grandchildren; other relatives. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan and a brother, Bob Haase.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the funeral home with visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. Sandra Schieble will officiate. Interment will be in the Okeeg Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association P. O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
