Viola E. Smith
Viola E. Smith, age 98, of Richland Center, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born in Primrose Township, Dane County on October 30, 1913, the daughter of Gabriel E. and Lena (Amunson) Berliot. Viola lived in Mount Horeb and later in Lake Mills, until she met and married David Smith in 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They lived in Waupun before moving to Richland Center, where David served as the Superintendant and Viola served as the matron of the Richland County Home and Hospital until 1961. They then served at the Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards until 1968, when they retired and moved to Sextonville. She was one who loved to help others and thought of ways to include all residents in activities. Once they retired, she and David enjoyed being snowbirds. Viola was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Ash Creek United Methodist Church.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Otto.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Pastor Ed Jones will officiate and burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. The family suggests memorials in Viola’s memory be directed to the Ash Creek United Methodist Church. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the family.
