Viola was born June 2, 1924 in Richmond, Indiana the daughter of Joseph and Angelina (Lanza) Iacuone. She enjoyed a well traveled life and enjoyed trips to Italy, Germany, Hawaii, and most of the United States. Despite her fear of water, she was known as pool lifeguard as her children grew up and even went whitewater rafting while in her 70’s. She also had the unique opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon. The words unique and special are often used to describe Viola along with independent and resilient. Despite challenges and heartbreak, she pressed on learning new skills such as driving when in her 50’s, a hostess and secretary at Schreiner’s Restaurant in Fond du Lac, various positions with the City of Richmond which was her first computer experience, and even worked at a McDonalds near Wisconsin Dells until she was 81. Viola also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, puzzles, playing cards and visiting with friends and relatives. Her recipes for homemade bread, Italian stuffing, and many other dishes carry on but without the magical touch.
Viola is survived by daughters, Linda (Gary) Buhr of Lake Delton and Paula Pepper of Baraboo; son, David (Jackie) Dickinson of Illinois; brother, James Iacuone; and two sisters, Helen Fuller and Ida Shields all of Richmond, Indiana; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Don Dickinson and granddaughter, Amy TollBork. Just as important as the immediate family she leaves a behind a long list of close relatives and long time friends and acquaintances that will remember her fondly.
