Vinehout says injury prevents run for governor
Vinehout says she won't seek Democratic nomination for governor, citing injury
ALMA, Wis. — State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout says she won’t seek the Democratic nomination for governor.
In a statement issued Friday, Vinehout says the severity of the injury she received in a car accident last month makes it impossible to mount a grass roots campaign.
Vinehout says the broken bone in her upper right arm requires time for recovery and rehabilitation.
Vinehout, of Alma, had been exploring a possible run until the car accident. That leaves former Trek Bicycle Corp. executive Mary Burke as the only likely Democrat to challenge Republican Gov. Scott Walker in November.
