Village surprises local veteran with proclamation for Veterans Day
JOHNSON CREEK, Wis. — The village of Johnson Creek surprised a local veteran with a proclamation for Veterans Day on Monday.
Ben Craven, a resident of Johnson Creek, recently surprised his wife, Abbi Craven, by coming home early from his deployment in Afghanistan, a news release said. Abbi Craven wanted to return the surprise, so she reached out to community officials to set up a special Veterans Day tribute for her husband.
“Johnson Creek has been so supportive and wonderful with helping me create this surprise for Ben,” Abbi Craven said. “I wanted to let him know how much I appreciate all he does for not only our family, but for our country.”
According to the release, Ben Craven joined the Air Force after he graduated from Palmyra/Eagle High School in 2012. He has served three tours of duty overseas: Jordan in 2014, Korea in 2016 and Afghanistan in 2019.
He is planning on going to school at Madison College in January and continuing his studies at UW-Madison to finish his electrical engineering degree, according to the release.
