Victor A. Shorette

McFarland – Victor A. Shorette, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida.

He was born on August 12, 1934 in Brasher Falls, NY, son of Leon and Mary (Lalone) Shorette.

Victor enlisted in the Airforce in 1952. During his enlistment he met the love of his life Lucille Hummermeier. They were married on July 23, 1955 at the Truax Field Chapel. Together they raised 4 children in McFarland. Victor worked for Oscar Mayers for over 33 years. His love of his family was extremely important to him and keeping these family ties connected with frequent trips out East to see his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews was extremely important to him! The Shorette reunions were always a high point of our summers. He so enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vic and Lucille enjoyed the many outings they did with their square dancing club. He was a McFarland Volunteer Fireman and a member of the American Legion Post 534. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, Packers, and the Badgers.

Victor is survived by his children, Stephen (Steven) Shorette, Susan (Doug) Wedel, Diane (Dave) Shorette Ogden, David (Maureen) Shorette; grandchildren Joe (Brittany) Shorette, Sonja Erickson, Jacob Erickson, Keri Ogden, Kim (Ron) Shaw, and Josh (Bryanne) Wedel; great grandchildren Easton, Cooper, Quentin, Elizabeth, and Skyler. He is also survived by his brothers, Lou (Pat) Shorette, Gary (Ann) Shorette, Steve (Jane) Shorette, and sister Mary Lee (Harold) Flight.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ward and Maurice and sisters Janet and Eileen.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday February 18, 2017 at McFarland American Legion Post 534, 4911 Burma Rd., McFarland, WI. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of services on Saturday, with a meal provided.
