Victim of stabbing at Sun Prairie theater said he didn’t know attacker
MADISON, Wis. — The victim in a stabbing at a theater in Sun Prairie said he didn’t know his attacker.
Andre Powell, 24, of Madison, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the March 8 incident at the Marcus Palace Theater.
Police said officers found a man, 20, who had been stabbed several times. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a criminal complaint, Powell told police the victim started the altercation, and said that “he wasn’t trying to lunge at [the victim], but when they were both rolling around and instead of punching [the victim], he may have stabbed him.”
Police said surveillance video showed the victim was stabbed before the two fell to the ground.
The victim suffered stab wounds to his chest and back.
Powell is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
